What is Microblading?

Microblading Melbourne is a semi-permanent technique for enhancing the appearance of eyebrows, where a qualified technician uses a specialist hand tool equipped with disposable microblades. Unlike the stark block tattooing of yesteryears, Feather Touch Tattoo appears entirely natural, as it replicates real brow hairs and can be individually tailored. Whether you require a subtle enhancement or a complete transformation, each new strand is meticulously etched and coloured by hand according to your preferences.
How does it work?
The desired pigment is deposited into the superficial layer of the skin using the disposable microblade, enabling the technician to craft bespoke, crisp hair strokes that resemble natural eyebrow hairs. How does it differ from semi-permanent tattooing? Microblading Melbourne is distinct from traditional semi-permanent tattooing in that it is a manual process. Utilising a handheld microblade, the pigment is placed closer to the skin’s surface than with a machine, resulting in very fine and precise hair strokes without any blurring beneath the skin.
Who is suitable for Microblading?
For all semi-permanent makeup procedures, the practitioner must ensure no contraindications to the treatment. A clinic doctor will be consulted before the procedure if a medical condition is present. REMEMBER: Your best interests are our priority. How long does the pigmentation last? Microblading typically lasts 12-36 months, after which a colour boost or refresh may be needed.
Does it hurt?
Like all semi-permanent procedures, microblading requires a topical anaesthetic, which can be reapplied throughout the procedure to make it relatively painless. After completing a risk assessment form, we can arrange this for you through our dedicated compounding pharmacist.
The Procedure
A metal hand tool with fine needles creates delicate hair-like strokes. A hypo-allergenic pigment is implanted into the skin and usually lasts up to 2 years (results may vary depending on the client’s exposure to the sun and resistance to pigment). Anaesthetic is continuously applied to reduce any discomfort during the procedure. While most clients feel comfortable appearing in public within 2-5 days, you may also want to be aware of how long it takes for eyebrow tattoo to settle.
Follow-up care: keep the area dry and clean
The eyebrow and surrounding area should remain dry for 5-7 days. This means avoiding swimming, saunas, steam, sweating, or applying products near the area. For details about what happens if I get my combo brows wet, keep in mind that even small amounts of moisture can affect the healing process and pigment retention. When showering, take extra care to keep the brows as dry as possible, as this aids in the pigment settling into the skin, ensuring longer-lasting results. Remove eye makeup gently, using a downward motion on cotton pads, without scrubbing or washing the eyebrows.
Before your microblading procedure, please note the following: After discussing your objectives and evaluating the areas to be treated, we will recommend the best options to achieve your desired look. Everything is pre-drawn, shaped, and measured for your approval before proceeding. Please be aware that eyebrow technicians are NOT cosmetic surgeons. While the aim is not perfect symmetry, you might also have questions about how long it takes for eyebrow tattoo to fade completely, as everyone’s skin and pigment retention varies. The technician will work with your natural eyebrow shape. Remember – no two eyebrows are ever truly identical!
